RAK Art Festival 2027 Calls for Proposals for Masterclasses and Workshops

The Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival is set to return in January 2027, bringing its next edition to the atmospheric setting of Al Jazeera Al Hamra Heritage Village. One of the emirate’s most anticipated annual cultural events, the festival will centre around the theme Lost in Translation, exploring ideas of migration, memory, language, alienation, belonging and the many ways meaning can shift across people, places and cultures.

Ahead of the 2027 edition, RAK Art Festival has opened a call for artists, educators, makers and creative professionals to be part of the festival’s public programme by leading a masterclass or workshop.

The festival is looking for thoughtful, hands-on experiences that encourage learning, experimentation and meaningful connection. Sessions should respond to the wider theme of Lost in Translation, considering how identity, memory, language, culture, and tradition are carried, transformed, or reinterpreted across generations, communities, and borders.

Workshops and masterclasses should be practical, accessible and engaging, with proposals welcomed across a range of formats. The festival is particularly looking for programmes suited to cultural weekends, senior community sessions and family-friendly experiences for participants aged 13 and above. Pet-friendly concepts and Ramadan night programmes are also encouraged.

Each proposed session should be designed for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 participants. Applicants will also need to submit a website, portfolio or social media link showcasing their creative work.

Proposals must be submitted by Friday, July 31, via the link shared on the RAK Art Festival social media page.
