HH Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah has exempted Emirati fishermen in Ras Al Khaimah from paying financial dues until the end of 2026.
The directive comes as a move to support local fishermen, increase quality of life and stability for Emiratis, and help preserve traditional occupations in the emirate.
About the Exemption
In the UAE, 2026 has been designated as the ‘Year of the Family’. The theme aims to empower UAE citizens and strengthen the foundations for their social and economic stability and ensuring the sustainability of industries that connected to the country’s national heritage.
The exemption will reduce financial burdens on Emirati fishermen in Ras Al Khaimah, allowing them to carry on with their professional activities and develop their businesses.

Fishing in Ras Al Khaimah has been an integral part of the UAE’s national identity and heritage, for decades. Fishing also contributes to food security and sustainable development in the region.
The exemption is expected to help preserve the maritime heritage of fishing in RAK and pass it on to future generations.
