Temporary road closure announced at Ras Al Khaimah’s Former Clock Roundabout

Drivers in Ras Al Khaimah may want to allow a little extra time for their journeys over the next few days, with temporary road closures now in place around the Former Clock Roundabout.

The RAK Government Public Services Department and Ras Al Khaimah Police have announced a temporary partial closure at the roundabout, with Phase One beginning today, Thursday, 20 August.

The works will be carried out in two phases, with the overall project expected to run for around 10 days and finish by Sunday, 30 August. Each phase is expected to last approximately five days, with details of Phase Two set to be announced separately.

During the works, motorists are being asked to follow traffic signs, drive carefully through the area and make use of the alternative routes shared by the authority on Instagram.

The closures affect three approaches around the Former Clock Roundabout, with two of the affected sections stretching for approximately 200 metres.

Alternative routes to know about

The good news is that alternative roads are available around the roundabout, so you can still get where you need to go, you may just need to take a slightly different route.

If you’re approaching from Dahan, you’ll need to turn right before reaching the roundabout, as the road directly ahead will be closed. The diversion curves around the outside of the roundabout, allowing drivers to reconnect with the road on the opposite side or continue in the direction of Dubai.

Those travelling from Dubai towards Dahan should experience fewer disruptions around the roundabout. However, drivers heading from the Dubai direction towards Khuzam will also need to turn right before reaching the closure.

Travelling from Khuzam towards Dahan? You’ll need to use the parallel side road running alongside the main approach to the roundabout.

If the Former Clock Roundabout is part of your regular commute, it’s worth checking your route before setting off and giving yourself a little extra travel time until the works are complete.
