A giant UAE flag in Dubai has won a Guinness World Record for the largest banner ever raised from a pole by a vehicle. Al Shehhi and Yahya Saeed Lootah secured the world record title after raising a UAE flag-shaped banner of approximately 430 square metres in Dubai on 23rd April this year.
The enormous banner was painted red, green, white and black in the form of the UAE flag colours and was seen soaring over Dubai’s expansive deserts, an achievement that went viral on social media.
A Milestone of the ‘Proud of UAE’ Campaign
The raising of this giant UAE flag was part of the nationwide ‘Proud of UAE ‘ campaign, which was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during an uncertain period in the UAE due to the geopolitical situation.
The campaign urged citizens and residents to raise the UAE flag to symbolise unity, strength and national pride. Many raised the flags above their buildings, homes, offices, schools and other establishments. But the spectacle created by the enormous banner brought the nationwide initiative to a completely new level.

The team raising the giant flag used an International MXT truck equipped with a specially constructed flagpole that measured around 30 metres in length and 15 metres in height.
This is Al Shehhi’s ninth Guinness World Record. Popular for his work as the UAE’s first jet suit pilot, he has achieved recognition for milestones in skydiving, wingsuit flying and aerial sports. Al Shehhi has dedicated the record to the people and leaders of the UAE, while urging the youth of the Emirates to pursue their ambitions and transform ideas into practical reality.
