Eid Al Adha 2026: Dhu Al Hijjah 1447 AH in the UAE

The UAE confirmed the crescent moon sighting of Dhu Al Hijjah yesterday. As per reports from specialised sighting committees and observatories, it corresponds to 29 Dhu Al Hijjah 1447 AH.

In an official statement, the UAE Council for Fatwa confirmed the sighting and announced Monday, 18th May, as the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah, and Wednesday, 27th May, as the first day of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH in the country.

Eid Al Adha 2026 Holidays in the UAE

Eid Al Adha falls on the tenth day of Dhu Al Hijjah, which is the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. As it falls on 27th May, the Day of Arafah will fall on Tuesday, 26th May.

Public sector holidays for government employees follow the same dates announced last week. Work for federal government sectors will accordingly resume on Monday, 1st June, after an extended holiday period of nine days.

Meanwhile, private-sector employees in the UAE are still waiting for official confirmation of the Eid Al Adha 2026 holiday dates.
