Saqr Card in Ras Al Khaimah: Everything You Need to Know

The Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) is currently emphasising the importance of using the E-Saqr Card for public transportation travel in the emirate.

The Saqr Card allows passengers to pay with a card instead of repeatedly purchasing single-trip tickets. Here’s a guide to everything Ras Al Khaimah residents should know about using this card.

How to Use the E-Saqr Card

The E‑Saqr Card is a reusable electronic wallet allowing travellers to pay bus fares in Ras Al Khaimah. It is available in three categories: blue, silver and gold. The Saqr Card was initially intended for public bus services, but it has since been expanded to include certain intercity services, including routes to other emirates.

It’s easy to use the Saqr Card. All a user needs to do is scan it on the payment machine upon boarding and again upon departure; the fare will be deducted from the card’s balance.

The advantage of the card is that passengers don’t need to constantly handle cash. Boarding becomes quicker and more seamless, while the electronic system provides data to enhance service efficiency and route planning.

Cost of the Saqr Card and Where to Buy It

The cost of the E-Saqr Card RAK varies by card type. The Blue Card costs AED 30 (initial balance of AED 20) and is available to all users. The Silver Card costs AED 20 (initial balance of AED 10) and is best for students, senior citizens, and eligible residents. Eligible users can also receive a 50 per cent discount on the fare.

  • The Gold Card has been specially issued for People of Determination. While it is offered free of charge, users must top up the card with a sufficient balance to pay for trips.

The Saqr Cards and top-ups are always available at sales outlets in the main bus station in Al Dhait South. Blue cards are also often sold directly on buses. Information on the exact locations of multiple outlets and their current opening hours is available on RAKTA’s website.

As a whole, the Saqr Card is part of RAKTA’s strategy to transform services smartly and provide flexible, intelligent payment solutions.
