As the Eid Al Adha break approaches, UAE residents planning summer trips to Europe now face waiting periods of 6 to 8 weeks for their Schengen visa appointments.
Last-minute slots are hard to come by, which creates a rush to secure bookings or to reconsider travel itineraries.
Residents looking forward to their summer travel will face longer wait times for appointments and fewer available slots.
Schengen Visas in the UAE
According to experts, Schengen visa appointments are not readily available, particularly for tourist visa applicants, as overlapping timelines and holiday periods create conflicts. Getting an appointment may even take two or three months.
For those who still haven’t secured their visa, it may be nearly impossible to get it in time, as the Eid Al Adha break draws closer, and is now only six days away.

Many travellers are rescheduling their trips, opting for destinations such as Bali, the Maldives and Vietnam instead of Europe, as these are alternative holiday spots with easier entry requirements.
For those still hoping for a Europe trip this year, Schengen visa appointments are expected to open up over the next two weeks for a few Schengen countries, such as Iceland and Denmark. These may make for a possible trip during late summer.
If travellers are still in desperate need of Schengen visas, the best options are to secure a cancelled Schengen slot or choose a holiday destination that doesn’t require one.
Many of these destinations offer easier access and shorter travel times and are also comparatively more budget-friendly, allowing UAE residents to make faster, more flexible travel decisions.
