Drive Through the Desert
Ras Al Khaimah’s natural landscapes are a gem, and the desert is one among these. You can drive through the rugged terrain of golden dunes for an adrenaline-filled ride, especially in the Al Wadi desert in Ras Al Khaimah, in a 4WD vehicle.

Apart from taking Instagrammable pictures, you can spot various wildlife, including Arabian oryx, gazelles, and various bird species.
Visit Dhayah Fort
Dhayah Fort is a castle-like structure and is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. Aside from offering brilliant views of the surrounding palm trees, the fort is a major historical site in the emirate.
It is one of the best free things to do in Ras Al Khaimah. At the base of the seven-metre-high hill sits a larger fort once used by the communities who lived and worked among the surrounding palm gardens. Nearby, you’ll also find 12 large Wadi Suq tombs dating back to between 2000 and 1300 B

Explore Al Jazeera Al Hamra Village
Al Jazeera Al Hamra Village is among Ras Al Khaimah’s top historical sites and a great place to enjoy free activities in RAK. It is the UAE’s last remaining pearling village and is very well-preserved. Think historic alleyways, traditional courtyard houses and a grand, centuries-old fort.

The village is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm. Architectural landmarks here include the fort, especially the round watchtower, the old souq and Abdul Kareem House, each telling a story of the UAE’s rich heritage.
Relax on Public Beaches
What’s better than a day spent at the beach? Ras Al Khaimah is lucky to have some of the most picturesque beaches where you can spend hours for free. Take a relaxing stroll on the secluded Al Rams Beach and catch the sunset, or camp on Al Jazeera Al Hamra Beach.
Take a cool dip in the shallow waters of Flamingo Beach, a famous public beach in the emirate. You’ll find no shortage of parking facilities, restaurants nearby and even space to play volleyball.

Head to Khatt Village
A lesser-known gem in Ras Al Khaimah, Khatt Village is just south of the city and is famous for its hot springs and thermal pools.
The springs are situated in a peaceful valley at the foot of the Jebel Jais mountains and surrounded by archaeological sites and mud-brick forts dating back to the 19th century.
Khatt Village has been occupied for over 5,000 years, dating back to the Ubaid period. The warm waters of the natural springs have been traditionally used by locals for their healing and therapeutic qualities.
